Yes, for your trademark application to go through to registration, you need to respond to any opposition that’s filed against it. Failing to respond within the given deadline results in the opposition being decided in the opposing party's favor by default, which means the application is refused.

The response can be a formal defense, a negotiated settlement, or a withdrawal of the contested classes. What it cannot be is silence. Even if you intend to abandon the application, it is worth confirming that with your representative before the deadline passes to avoid losing any procedural options.
