A slogan or tagline is trademarked as a wordmark. The same registrability requirements apply as to any wordmark: the slogan must be sufficiently distinctive in relation to the goods or services it will be used with, and must not conflict with an earlier registered mark in the same class.

Before filing, assess whether the slogan would be considered descriptive or merely promotional. Slogans that are merely promotional in nature (like "Best in Class," "Fast and Reliable") are routinely refused. On the other hand, the ones that stand a better chance are often inventive, carry a secondary meaning, or have acquired recognition through long commercial use.
