A trademark covering multiple goods or services is registered by identifying the relevant Nice Classification classes and listing the specific goods or services within each class in the application. Most IP offices charge a base fee for the first class and an additional fee for each subsequent class.

For each class, the goods or services must be described using terminology accepted by the relevant IP office. Most offices provide searchable databases of accepted descriptions; the USPTO's ID Manual, the EUIPO's TMclass, and IP Australia's goods and services database. Using accepted terminology from the outset reduces the risk of a formalities office action requesting clarification.
