Will a change of font have an impact on word mark registration?

No. A font is not part of a wordmark and does not affect the registration process. The examiner assesses the distinctiveness of the words themselves, but not how they are presented visually in your logo or branding. Changing your font does not improve or reduce the chances of a wordmark application succeeding.
