If I get an EU trademark, would I need an Irish one too?

No, if you get an EU trademark, it would also cover Ireland, so you don't need a separate trademark. However, bear in mind that an EU trademark might be actually harder to get since more trademark owners may oppose your application.

EU trademarks are registered with the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) and are valid in all 27 member countries of the EU.
